Square Enix follows up last month’s release of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided with the game’s first story DLC, System Rift, which features the return of Frank Pritchard.
One of the late contenders to the title of this summer’s best AAA release, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has re-established the series as one of the most popular in the RPG genre today. Critical reception for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has seen the game praised for the way it has developed into a premier stealth action title, and the only consistently negative feedback has been regarding Deus Ex: Mankind Divided‘s abrupt main story ending.Much of that criticism has centered around the fact that the game’s narrative feels as though it was simply cut off early, with many fans concerned over the possibility that Square Enix trimmed some of the main story and saved it for DLC later. It’s certainly a possibility given the relatively short turnaround between Deus Ex: Mankind Divided‘s release and the introduction of its first major story DLC, System Rift, which launched earlier today.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided‘s System Rift DLC is available now for $10 USD or as part of the $30 season pass that will eventually include another story DLC called A Criminal Past, scheduled for early next year. The first expansion will bring players to a new location for a self-contained story, although it remains unclear whether or not the same approach will be used in the second DLC later.
As interesting as it looks, System Rift still doesn’t appear to offer any insight into the many mysteries left unsolved at the end of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided due to its stand-alone status. Those looking to wrap up the main story and understand just what everyone is confused about can check out the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Password Guide, which contains a collection of keywords that will help players get valuable weapons and loot ahead of the final story missions.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and the System Rift DLC are available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
