Activision reveals more details about Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s multiplayer beta, including specific start dates for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Franchise fans have been waiting for specifics on when they can play Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s multiplayer beta, but the wait is finally over. As announced by Activision, those that have the game pre-ordered on PS4 can join the beta on October 14th at 10am Pacific time, and Xbox One owners can join in on the action a week later, on October 21st, at the same time. The beta is then scheduled to conclude on October 24th at 10am Pacific across all platforms.Unfortunately, further details on the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare multiplayer beta haven’t been shared by Activision just yet. Fans still have no idea which maps they can look forward to battling it out on, let alone what weapons they will use, or what special Combat Rigs will be at their disposal. However, Activision is promising to flesh out the details in the coming weeks, so expect more information on the Infinite Warfare beta to be revealed soon.
While we wait for more details on Infinite Warfare‘s multiplayer beta, it will be interesting to see how fans react to Activision shortchanging Xbox One gamers. Activision hasn’t been secretive about the fact that the Infinite Warfare beta is a timed PS4 exclusive, but even so, PS4 players getting 10 days to play the beta versus three days for Xbox owners seems a little excessive.
It’s possible that the Infinite Warfare beta will get a surprise extension, like many popular betas tend to do, but regardless, Xbox gamers are still getting significantly less time to try out the game when compared to PS4 owners. However, with how heavily Activision has favored Sony this generation, it should come as no surprise.
It seems as though Infinite Warfare favors PS4 over Xbox even more than Black Ops III. Besides the fact that PS4 gamers will get a lot more time to play the multiplayer beta, they also get access to DLC 30 days in advance. Furthermore, Infinite Warfare will enjoy upgraded visuals when played on a PS4 Pro, and that’s not to mention the PS4 version’s exclusive virtual reality experience that won’t be found on Xbox or PC.
Between all these perks and the longer beta access, there’s really no question about it: Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s definitive experience is on PS4. This may be disappointing to Xbox gamers, but at least they’re better off than Call of Duty fans on PC, who aren’t getting the beta at all. Hopefully Activision reconsiders some of these decisions when it comes to next year’s Call of Duty game, so fans have equal treatment regardless of their gaming system of choice.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be available on November 4th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
