This Kingdom Hearts trailer is baffling, but it has nice music and a release date
Despite having played and enjoyed a bunch of games in the Kingdom Hearts series, I couldn't begin to tell you what's happening in the latest trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. That doesn't mean it isn't worth a watch, though!The trailer was introduced during Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference this evening and features a great remix of "Simple and Clean," the J-pop song popularized in the first Kingdom Hearts way back in 2002. PlayStation Japan's PlayStation 4 hip hop song is kind of amazing
Sony kicked off its PlayStation Japan press conference with a song from musician Tofubeats, featuring Ryo-Z and Pes from Japanese hip hop group Rip Slyme, and it was, for better or worse, one of the highlights of today's presentation. Bandai Namco celebrates 15th anniversary of Gundam Vs. with new PlayStation 4 game
Today at Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference, publisher Bandai Namco took the stage to reveal its latest Gundam title. As part of a celebration of the 15th anniversary of Gundam Vs., a series of fighting games based off the long-running anime franchise, Bandai Namco will be working on a "new generation Gundam Vs." for the PlayStation 4.After running through the history of the series, the trailer above shows footage from the new game. Nioh comes to PlayStation 4 February 2017
Team Ninja's Nioh, the historical fantasy samurai action game that's been more than a decade coming, will finally be released Feb. 9, 2017, publisher Koei Tecmo announced today at Sony's pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference.Koei Tecmo says that Nioh's release date is worldwide. The game is exclusive to PlayStation 4.
Nioh was originally planned as a PlayStation 3 launch title. At last year's Tokyo Game Show, Koei Tecmo revealed the game had been shifted to PS4. Earlier this year, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja released two playable demos for Nioh to help shape the game's development.
Kojima's Death Stranding is an open-world action game that will connect players
Kojima Productions head Hideo Kojima appeared at Sony's pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference to talk to a Japanese audience about his next game, Death Stranding, saying the open-world action game aims to connect players.Kojima described most online competitive and cooperative action games as featuring "sticks" for players to use in combat. Death Stranding, he said, will also feature sticks, but also ropes for tethering and connecting players. Nier: Automata gets a new trailer, release date for Tokyo Game Show
Nier: Automata, the next iteration in Square Enix's bizarre action-role-playing game series, finally has a release date for Japan.As part of Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference, Square revealed a new trailer for Nier: Automata. While the brief trailer was light on new details or footage of the game, it ended with the big news: The game will release in Japan on Feb. 2, 2017 for PlayStation 4.
It's unclear at the moment whether this release date is universal or if North America and other territories will need to wait longer.
Koei Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden, Toukiden and Atelier cross over in Musou Stars
Publisher Koei Tecmo is working on a new entry in its Musou series of beat 'em up action games, this time featuring the company's original characters from series like Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive, Toukiden and Atelier. Musou Stars is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, Koei Tecmo announced at Sony's pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference today.Included in a teaser trailer were Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden, Sophie from Atelier Sophie and Kasumi from Dead or Alive. Gameplay appears similar to Koei Tecmo and Omega Force's Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors series.
Earth Defense Force 5 revealed, hitting Japan in 2017
Today at Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference, D3Publisher revealed the next iteration in its cult classic series, Earth Defense Force.While very few details were offered in the debut trailer for Earth Defense Force 5, some enemies old and new were on display. In particular, the trailer featured a whole lot of giant ants, as fans of the series have come to expect, as well as a new massive frog creature that walks around on two legs and carries weapons of its own.
