We have the early scoop on where to find the vendor Xur and what exotic armor and weapons he has available to Destiny players for the weekend of August 5th.
While most Destiny players expected it to be a slow week for news, with Bungie’s focus turning towards Gamescom, things took an unexpected turn when it was revealed that Game Informer had the cover story on Rise of Iron. And with that came a deluge of new info about Destiny‘s upcoming expansion, including new gameplay, a new approach to Artifacts, and a few details about the new Wrath of the Machine raid.Bungie even revealed two exotics that would be joining the fold for Year 3, one a divisive hand cannon from Year 1 and the other an homage the starting auto rifle from Destiny‘s early moments. However, although Bungie confirmed that the two exotics would join the fray, the developer did not give full details about how each weapon will work in Rise of Iron. The studio also did not confirm whether either weapon might become part of Xur’s weekly loot table, which is sure to get a much-needed boost in September.
Speaking of Xur, the Agent of the Nine is back for his weekly visit, bringing along some exotic treats for Destiny players to spend their Strange Coins on. Those who are looking for Xur will find him in the northern part of The Tower, next to The Speaker.
This seems to be a favorite spot for Xur as of late and can be accessed by heading to the left after spawning into The Tower. Follow the long path down a few stairs and Xur will be in the very back of the open area. He will be the hooded guy hanging out by the balcony.
For exotic armor, this week Xur has the Apotheosis Veil helmet for Warlocks, the No Backup Plans gauntlets for Titans, and the Graviton Forfeit helmet for Hunters. Both the Hunter and the Titan exotics are very strong choices for their utility in PvP, and are well worth the Strange Coins. In fact, the No Backup Plans coupled with the Universal Remote shotgun that Xur sold a few weeks back makes for a deadly combination in Defender Titans. Watch out for overshields.
Xur’s exotic weapon this week is the Zhalo Supercell, the only elemental primary in Year 2 of Destiny. While Zhalo is certainly solid in all PvE instances, the auto rifle becomes extremely useful when the Arc Burn modifier is active on Strikes. Its ability to chain lightning between enemies can wreak havoc on groups and the gun is just fun to use. Pick the Zhalo Supercell up if you don’t already own it.
