A special edition of South Park: The Fractured But Whole appears online, and it includes a mobile-device controlled coon mobile driven by Carman as The Coon.
Special editions are often big sellers with steep price tags, so it’s not surprise to see the latest South Park game getting in on the craze. Following in the footsteps of the South Park: The Stick of Truth Grand Wizard Edition, South Park: The Fractured But Whole will have its own special edition. The new special edition has now been unveiled on Amazon, and it includes a steelbook version of South Park: The Fractured But Whole, DLC season pass, and an RC Coon Mobile. The RC Coon Mobile features The Coon – Cartman’s superhero alter ego – on a big wheel bike. The Coon Mobile will release alongside a free mobile app for iOS and Android devices, which can control the Coon Mobile via Bluetooth.
The special edition of South Park: The Fractured But Whole is available exclusively on Amazon for $190. It’s unclear if that means that there will be other special editions available from other large retailers, or if this is the only one. However, the special edition’s presence on Amazon is good news for gamers with Amazon Prime. Amazon recently added a 20% discount on new games for Prime subscribers, which brings down the Remote Control Coon Mobile Bundle to just over $150.
The sale price of the limited edition may seem a bit steep to some players, especially considering the special edition of the first South Park RPG, The Stick of Truth, retailed for around $80. However, the Grand Wizard edition only included a map and figurine and a few extra skins for the playable character. Between the DLC season pass and the Remote Controlled Coon Mobile, it’s not a big surprise that the price is considerably higher than its predecessor.
Amazon has now opened pre-orders for South Park: The Fractured But Whole Remote Control Coon Mobile Bundle, although the game won’t release until December. Some gamers may be a bit wary of the game’s promised release date, as South Park: The Stick of Truth was delayed multiple times, which became so absurd that even South Park‘s creators poked fun at it in an episode of the show. However, it seems like Ubisoft has worked out the finer details of the sequel and it’s unlikely that the game will be shipped off to another developer at the last minute, so hopefully fans of the series won’t experience any significant delays this time around.
Special editions of video games aren’t for everyone, but they do provide a neat extra bonus for gamers who are willing to part with a little extra cash. As long as they don’t reach the absurd heights of the most expensive special editions, it’s hard to find fault with the option.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole will release on December 6th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
